In 2011, Urban Farm Collective became a program of Oregon Sustainable Agriculture Land Trust (OSALT), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that accepts donated land and holds it in perpetuity as agricultural land, for the purposes of education and research into sustainable agriculture. This partnership provided the UFC with the ability to accept tax-exempt charitable contributions and grants.

The Boys and Girls club of America and St. Andrews church have been important contributors to the development of our Youth Garden.

Thanks to the Tin Shed garden cafe for stepping up as the first business to ‘Sponsor a Garden’. For a $500 dollar donation, the Tin Shed provided the UFC with enough funds to install and maintain one UFC garden for the entire 2011 season. If your business would like to join the Tin Shed and Sponsor a Garden, contact us at urbanfarmcollective@gmail.com.

A hardy thank you to Saravezas for chosing the UFC as their ‘Meat Raffle’ beneficiary (really!). Together with their generous meat vendors, they raised $820 dollars for the collective. Money which helped us to add one new garden and purchased much need greenhouse supplies.

Thanks also goes out to the Rebuilding Center for donating drawers for our produce exchange and building materials for our greenhouse. You have been on our side since the beginning and we so appreciate it.

A special thanks goes out to Ariadne Garden and Terrance McDodge for his dedication to local food and for tirelessly working to educate the community on the Soil Food Web.

There are so many food-security, education and farming organizations in our fine city that share our vision and do such good work that we’d be remiss to not mention them:

Fargo Forest Farm, Emerson Garden, Food in the City, Food Hub, Eco-Trust, Food Policy Council, Growing Gardens, Oregon Food Bank, Slow Food Portland, Portland Fruit Tree Project, St. Andrews Food Pantry, Sisters of the Road cafe, OSU extention services, Central NE Neighbors, and so many more.

Many NE business neighbors have donated gift certificates, products and services to auction off at our Annual Hoe Down fund raiser, which last year raised 1,200 dollars. Thanks to Siren Nation, Tin Shed, Buffalo Gardens, Dovetail Bakery and Grain building and design.
