I do not live in WI but I do want you to know that I am in total support of your efforts, total support of the "Declaration of Food Independence", and totally in support of Mr. Hershberger and the all of the other farmers. Our government allows Monsanto to produce chemical "food" filled with poisons for us to eat. Our government is afraid of its citizens; afraid of the Occupy movement; afraid that the time will come when "We the People . . . " will win.

I would love to volunteer for this project (as long as I could bring my 2 and 5-year-olds along). Let me know if this is even an option.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm interested in getting more involved! I volunteered for you a few times in 2010, and it was a good experience. I think what you're doing is great. I'd like to be invited to future volunteer events.
I live on Dekum, so I'm near one of your sites.
Also, my backyard has a lot of gardenable space. If you're looking to take on another backyard farm, my roommates and I would like to offer our space.
Finally, we make rainbarrels (see containrain.com). Would you have any interest in getting rainbarrels set up at any of your sites?

I was inquiring into any knowledge or direction you could give me regarding empty lots and farming in N/NE Portland. I have previous farming experience as well as selling produce to farmers markets and plan on utilizing and expanding on that knowledge as a springboard for a beautiful vision I am having for a much needed urban healing garden space. I am not sure how much profit it would generate at this moment, I am wanting to make it as much of an altruistic endeavor as I can while also sustaining a living (I am also involved with Food not Bombs and we are going to grow food to actually cook and feed to the community through this land, hopefully) It will also include a place for meditation practice and other such energy so that will also radiate out into the community in positive ways as well:). I think taking the produce to market, then sharing any profit would be an ideal route. I will do the planting and harvesting with a variety of people who are enthusiastic about this. We are putting an application into city repair for more volunteers and help building a cob teahouse/benches and planting garden beds. We would need access to water yes! Things are really falling into place, We just need to find the land! :) It will be a bike farm mainly as I do not advocate the use of cars except when absolutely needed (compost delivery etc.) So the land would ideally be as local to the N Overlook neighborhood as possible. Thanks again for your thoughts! -Kathryn Joy

Hey guys! As part of my involvement with Occupy Portland, I've been working on engaging neighborhoods. We're trying to provide tools to get neighborhoods working together to realize their collective goals. I've been throwing community potlucks and my own neighborhood (10th between shaver and mason) is psyched about UFC and wants to get more involved this coming season (we've already got one house). I really want to touch base with you guys because I think we might be able to work together to make this coming season huge! Email me back and hopefully we can meet in person to discuss!

Cheers,
Sam

Hello,
I'm a seasoned vegetable farmer, and am interested in helping farm one of your plots in ne portland. I have worked on a variety of farms in oregon, new york, vermont and mexico, as a full season crew member and as a consultant. My current living situation is without a garden space, and I will be raising our child this year and won't be able to work out of town, so farming an urban plot would be a great alternative. Please contact me if you are still in need of farmers,
Thanks and have a good day,
Devin Dinihanian
